Mapping Platform (Smart Track)

Description

Smart Track is a standalone mapping platform that provides interactive floor plan visualization. It displays:

• Assets (BLE-tagged equipment, tools, devices) in real-time

• WiFi Heatmaps (presence analytics visualization)

• Real-time location data for tracked devices

• Zone overlays and custom markers

All data is automatically synchronized from the Starling platform, including:

• Location hierarchy (Locations → Buildings → Floors)

• Beacons (BLE tags) with coordinates

• Access Points (WiFi devices)

• Settings and configuration

• Location/Presence data for WiFi and BLE tags

When to Use

• Customer wants to view assets on interactive floor plans instead of static images

• Customer needs real-time visualization of asset locations

• Customer wants to combine asset tracking and WiFi heatmaps on the same map

• Customer has GeoJSON floor plan data available

Dependencies & Requirements

• Location Hierarchy: Must be configured in Starling (Locations, Buildings, Floors)

• GeoJSON Data: Floor plans must have GeoJSON format for interactive maps

• Smart Track Service: Smart Track platform must be running and accessible

• Settings: Tenant setting "Interactive Map Enabled" must be enabled

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Enable Interactive Maps for Tenant

1. Navigate to Settings > General Settings (or relevant settings page)

2. Find setting: "Interactive Map Enabled"

3. Enable the setting (set to "Yes" or value: 1)

Step 2: Configure Floor for Interactive Maps

1. Navigate to Settings > Locations > [Select Location] > [Select Building] > [Select Floor]

2. Upload GeoJSON floor plan data (if not already uploaded)

3. In the floor settings, find "Map Type" dropdown

4. Select "Interactive" (this enables Smart Track integration)

5. Configure floor dimensions:

   • Width: Enter floor width in meters

   • Length: Enter floor length in meters

6. Ensure GeoJSON contains corner coordinates (bottom-left, top-right, etc.)

7. Save the floor configuration

Step 3: Verify Integration

1. Navigate to Asset Tracking Dashboard

2. Select the floor with Interactive map type

3. Verify that assets appear on the interactive map

4. Check that map is interactive (can zoom, pan, etc.)

Troubleshooting

Issue: Assets not appearing on interactive map

• Check: Floor Map Type is set to "Interactive"

• Check: Tenant setting "Interactive Map Enabled" is enabled

• Check: GeoJSON data is properly uploaded

• Check: Beacons have valid coordinates

Issue: Map not loading

• Check: Smart Track service is accessible

• Check: API credentials are configured correctly

• Check: Network connectivity to Smart Track platform
